Those Trying Times

Sunday, March 5, 2023

These past few weeks have been...trying. I find myself itching to take a Sunday drive to clear my mind, and to 'reset', but I've about had it with my bulky winter coat, my clonky boots, 🥾, the salt from the road all over my ride. 😑

I'm due to get in my car and just go. No destination in mind, just playlists of curated music and the open road. With the price of gas and the torque-y vehicle I drive, it's a recipe for an empty wallet, but to be honest, I don't really care. 🏎️

Whenever I go for these drives, I don't get far before I turn around. I'm "getting lost in familiar places" by observing life through a wide-angle lens. I'm looking for stones that have been left unturned, special little places, small towns, a photo that no one has taken yet.

On drives and on shoots, I observe in nature, movement, subtle interactions, subliminal messages. These little moments are what make up our lives. They are what inspire me to write, to create, to do.

I think what I'm trying to say is, even when it feels like you can't keep up, life keeps going. It's not really about where you're going, but the enjoyment of getting there. It's amazing what you see when you're not moving through life with your eyes closed. Sometimes you've gotta sit back and enjoy the ride. 😎
